1st Summer School 2016 "Infection Biology"

Thank you to our conference participants

On behalf of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut, Federal Research Institute for Animal Health, the Research Training Group (RTG) 1870 at the University of Greifswald, and the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg, we would like to extend our thanks to all participants of the 1st Summer School on “Infection Biology” held from September 28th to 30th, 2016, in Greifswald, Germany.

We hope that you enjoyed the conference and found it both stimulating and rewarding. The primary goal of this Summer School was to bring together, for the first time, leading academics, researchers and young scientists working on viral and bacterial pathogens and their cooperation in causing disease in humans and other mammals. We believe that the insights into scientific research, the perspectives offered by our guest speakers, and the subsequent discussion amply highlighted the importance of a profound understanding of viral-bacterial co-infections and the need for ethical principles that should underlie each research endeavor.

Given the success of this first conference, we would like to repeat the event and look forward to seeing you again.

With all good wishes,
Yours sincerely,

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Thomas C. Mettenleiter (President of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut)

Prof. Dr. Sven Hammerschmidt (Speaker of the RTG1870)

Prof. Dr. Bärbel Friedrich (Academic Director of the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg)
